Congratulations to Liam Jackson, seen below receiving his FA McDonalds North West Region Young Volunteer of Year Award from World Cup referee Howard Webb.

Junior pages have been updated for new season, for the coming season Northbank FC has 4 new teams taking part in local football, they are:-

U7 Boys, U8 Boys , U9 Boys and a second U12 girls team.

Northbank FC would like to wish these new teams and our existing teams the best of luck for the new season........

9 year old Carl Rigby from Stanwix who was the proud winner of the signed Jamie Carragher Liverpool shirt. Carl is a Liverpool supporter and was wearing his own Liverpool shirt as he accepted the prize. He intends to have the shirt framed and hung in his bedroom.

FA Community Award

A nice surprise for Under 16 player Liam Jackson who was attending the County FA annual dinner  to receive the young volunteer of the year award for the Cumberland area.

It was revealed that he had now won the North West region award, this was hot off the press and more details will follow.

It was also revealed that Cleator Moor Celtic were also regional winners, this means that the Cumberland FA will have two representatives at the national awards. A fine achievement for those concerned beating the likes of the Liverpool FA  & Manchester FA.

There were also awards on the night to Bransty Rangers, Edenvale and as previously reported Northbank coach Andy Laidlow.

Andy Laidlow (current under 10 Coach) has been chosen as County winner of the Coach of the Year for 2009/10 as part of the brand new FA Community Awards presented by McDonalds.

This award recognises the tremendous effort and hard work which Andy has not only put into our club but also to football within the county as a whole.

Andy will receive his award at the County dinner on Friday the 28th May at The Greenhill Hotel, Wigton.

News posted 12th May 2010

  Annan net duo

Under 16 players Sean Willis and Lee Underwood have been signed by Annan under 19. This will be a big step for both of them, they go with the clubs best wishes and hopefully it is the first step into professional careers.

 Young Volunteer of the Year

Under 16 player Liam Jackson has been awarded the County FA Young volunteer of the year award sponsored by McDonalds. His award will be presented to him at the County FA annual dinner on 28 May 2010.

This is a fitting award for Liam not only does he turn out regularly for Northbank U16, he referees in the Longhorn league and just recently has been upgraded to Level 7. Also to show that clubs can work together he has been assisting the coaches for Carlisle City U7s. He has also been playing a leading part in coaching next years Northbank U8s and he has been involved in helping the Year 7 team at Trinity School.

To cap off an excellent year for Liam he has been selected by the County FA to attend a National Young Leaders camp in July.

Congratulations to Northbank U11's who won a closely fought tournament at Crown Newlaithes today, well done boys.....

Congratulations to Northbank U18's on winning the league cup at the weekend at Brunton Park, the team beat Carlisle City 4-0, a great performance by the whole team, especially as they are one of the younger sides, and have another year at under 18.

Well done boys......

Congratulations to Northbank A Under 14's who also won their league this weekend, in a tense final game with Northbank 1970 - which ended in a 1-1 draw, which was all Northbank needed to clinch the title over 1970... Well done boys...oh and well done Peter...

Under 16 County Cup Semi Final

Northbank 0-0 Cleator Moor Celtic (aet) 3-4 on penalties

An excellent game of football between two very competitive teams, played on the Northbank Senior pitch in front of a decent sized crowd. It was a case of if only, Northbank created the better clear cut chances but were unable to convert them, with Cleator relying more on second or third ball from set play situations.

Neither side could find the net over the 100minutes played so it went to the dreaded penalties, someone said they now know how Leeds felt, I prefer more like England Euro 96.No blame can be attached to those who missed, it happens, what was good was the collective spirit shown by all the players at the end. A special mention goes to the referee Steven Poole who had an excellent game.

No player could be picked out as man of the match as every single one of them played well and will not have come off the pitch thinking they could have done more.

Congratulations to Northbank B under 14's who were presented with their league cup and individual trophies before their last game of the season this weekend.

 CROSS BAR KIDS Lee Underwood

The U16 centre half won the honours to take part in the halftime cross bar challenge during the England v Scotland U18 schoolboy international at Brunton Park on 23 April 2010.

Lets hope Lee is as successful as U14 Northbank 1970 centre back Callum Denovellis who recently won a 2010/11 CUFC season ticket during a similar event at a recent Carlisle home game.

It is understood that one of Lees hero's is Carlisle fullback Richard Keogh, lets hope Lee does not try to emulate Richards JPT penalty against Leeds!

 Wembley Debut for Liam !!

Lucky Liam Purdham who plays for Andy Rowlands under 14 team will step on to the Wembley turf    during half time on Sunday’s Johnstone Paint Cup Final between Carlisle United and Southampton to take a penalty against the renowned goalie Sammy Saint, aka the Southampton mascot.

Everyone from Northbank Football Club wish Liam the very best of luck in finding the back of the net, and to Carlisle United in bringing home the cup!!

  League Champions

Congratulations to Northbank B U14, following their win on Saturday they wrapped up the league title with 4 games to spare. This is a fantastic achievement for Shaun Parkins and his lads, and is a fine reward for the hard work and togetherness shown over the last couple of seasons.

Northbank U16 player Liam Jackson has been appointed to referee the U13 (Cumberland FA) Tesco Cup Final on Sunday 14 th March 2010. The match is being played at Gillford Park between Castletown Juniors and Pirelli Juniors. His assistants are Adam Cox and Josh Simpson who both play in the Longhorn U16 League. All the boys are pupils at Trinity School and were on the same referees course.

Northbank FC extend good luck to both teams and officials.

  Under 16 County Representative Match

  Westmorland 0-4 Cumberland

A good away win for Cumberland Under 16, this was the first match and coach Steve Lee will have been happy with an impressive team performance. Northbank provided five players for the squad and they all had a good amount of pitch time. The players being Jamie Forrester, Liam Jackson, Tom Townsend, Tom Gosling and Tom Scott. Joe Short should have also played but was unavailable due to injury.

Next week the squad play at Mirehouse FC against North Riding.

STEVE ROSS (right) receiving the Northbank Appreciation Trophy from Bill Martin, one of the original founding members of Northbank FC back in 1970.

Steve helped set up Northbank A (now second year Under 14s) at under 10 level back in 2005 and despite standing down as coach of the team at the end of the 07/08 Season, Steve continues to help with training (especially goalkeeping coaching) with the team.  He also gives up much of his own time to help secure much needed funding for the team and the Club in general. His consistent support of the Club be it selling Bonfire Night Raffle Tickets, Sporting Dinner Tickets, helping with the line painting for our Annual Summer Tournament or supporting functions such as our recent Golf Day are second to none.  Steve’s efforts are very much appreciated by everyone at the club and we look forward to his help and support continuing in the future.

Note - all Junior pages have been updated for the new season..

ALL COACHES

Registration Cards
For ALL team coaches please ensure that you have your team registration cards available at every match you play, these are being checked don’t get caught out.

Players on the Pitch
Don’t play more than the stated amount, it is not in your nor your boys interests to do this. There are a number of teams (not ours) ignoring this despite being told not to. If you are asked, politely decline, whatever reason you are given.

County FA
The County FA are also doing spot checks, you may well have seen Paul Devlin at the Sheepmount. One aspect that is causing concern is the lack of First Aid kits on show

amongst other things, this is something that will be raised at our next meeting. Please ensure that you have your first kit at every match and that it is correctly stocked, if you are not sure ask.

This also applies to Senior teams.

GOALKEEPER REQUIRED

If anyone knows of an Under 16 goalkeeper looking for a team please contact Bev Jackson through this website.

Northbank United Nations

Following the acquistion of a Spaniard at great expense for the Under 18s, it is now the turn of the Under 16s to go into the foreign transfer market. An undisclosed sum was accepted for Nigerian striker Malcolm Obue. He is expected to make his debut in this sundays derby match against John Wilsons side.

Another good win for Northbank Under 18's

Mark's side won again at the weekend, taking the Under 18's to the top of their league. See more info. in the Junior section to the left...

PAUL CULLEY receiving the Northbank Appreciation Trophy from ADAM BRADLEY.Paul has assisted Adam with the goalkeeper coaching for the last couple of years. Both his and Adams efforts are very much appreciated by the club. The enthusiasm of both Paul and Adam has helped nurture some promising talent.
